Lastly, some women felt a disconnect from people who have already had sex.

"If I meet a cool guy and I know he's had sex, I just feel like a barrier goes up in my head because I know that we're at different places in our lives," Sam said. "Knowing that guys have experienced something that I haven't prevents me from getting close to them — I just feel like we're innately different somehow."

But despite all of these complications, most of the women said their virginity will not be an issue when the right guy comes along.

"Sure, most guys probably think I'm a prude — but that doesn't bother me," Selena said. "Because if a future partner/boyfriend/spouse really loves me, then my virginity won't be a bad thing to him."
