Fall Fashion’s Must-Haves for the HC Team! - Women Campus
Take a peek into which fashion finds our writers are coveting right now for fall…
Katie Sanders, University of Pennsylvania: “My must-have fashion item would have to be one of Laura Bush's Feed Bags. The big burlap totes are really spacious and practical, and the proceeds go to help feed children in Africa, so they're both fashionable and philanthropic.”
Elyssa Goodman, Carnegie Mellon University: “I'm really into my flat cowboy ankle boots right now. They go with everything, and add a fun, irreverent edge to whatever I'm wearing. They're almost like the new loafers for me, and they're super comfy.”
Danielle Schivek, Brandeis University: “This season’s extra-long Missoni scarves! They are a seasonal creation of the fashion house, but the fabric is so beautiful and light and can be draped so beautifully to create instant fall chic season after season.”
Cara Sprunk, Cornell University: “Super spandex jeans from urban outfitters. I think they're 4% spandex but they just feel like leggings. They're super skinny and comfy (but stylish!) and will tuck perfectly into my other fall must-have: black slouchy boots.”
Johnie Gall, Penn State University: “My black, full-skirted trench coat from TopShop is going to get me through the chilly fall months in style.”
Hilary May, Harvard University: “Must Have: Pink Burberry raincoat. It looks stellar rain or shine by bringing a pop of color on even the most dreary days.”
Joanna Buffum, Bowdoin College: “My one must-have clothing item for this fall are my brown knee high leather boots because I love how they make every outfit that much cuter, and they only have about a half an inch of heel so I can wear them all day.”
Elana Altman, Wellesley College: “My must-have item for fall is shiny leggings, because they're a fun way to make my legs look sleek and sexy.”
Victoria Guerrera, Emerson College: “So my must-have fall fashion item would be leather ankle boots from J. Crew. They can be worn as casual, or for a night out. They also are versatile because they can be worn with jeans, skirts and dresses!”
Emma Allen, Yale University: “Pockets: There is nothing like the coming of the cold to make you realize how much you need Chapstick with you at all times, and with the advent of the swine flu apocalypse, sharing is now more out of the question than ever. Pocket that Burt's Bees.”
Cece Wildeman, Colorado State University: “My one must-have clothing item for the fall would have to be cute and comfortable jackets that are lightweight. That way, I can wear short sleeves when it's hot and cover up when fall weather comes along. Colorado weather seems to change every hour so a lightweight jacket is good to have around.”
Mallory Smith, Scripps College: “My one must-have item for fall is a stylish bag that I can wear out and use for classes.”
Taylor Trudon, University of Connecticut: “My must-have fashion item for this fall is a great, black cardigan sweater because not only are they always in style, but they're so cozy. I can glam it up with a dress, or grunge it down with ripped jeans or leggings, and still maintain my personal style.”
Cassie Potler, James Madison University: “My must-have fashion/clothing item for this fall are my oversized international sweaters. I have a Bolivian poncho made from Alpaca and an Irish wool sweater wrap. I love them because they are cute, unique, and cozy!”
And one trend kept popping up over and over!
Jessica Goldstein, University of Pennsylvania: “My must-have item for fall would be a boyfriend blazer; there are so many out there right now that it's easy to find one that's not too expensive. They make you look put-together and keep you warm when the weather gets chilly. It's a polished alternative to throwing on a hoodie when you're half asleep and are getting dressed for class.”
Cassie Kreitner, Syracuse University: “The Boyfriend Blazer is my must-have for fall. It's great for layering, either over a dress or with a ruffled tank and skinny jeans. I can dress it down for class or up for a date or a night out with friends.”
Marisa Stotter, Wesleyan University: “This season, I've got to have my blue velvet blazer. I've had it for a while, but these jackets are really in this fall!”
Amanda First, Cornell University: “My must-have this fall is a boyfriend blazer, because it goes with everything and adds a touch of effortless cool to any outfit, from my favorite skinnies and a tank top to a little black dress and sky-high heels.”
