To help you incorporate winter’s toughest trends into your everyday look, Her Campus has investigated the best ways to wear over the knee boots, puffer jackets, mix-matched prints and faux fur.

1.) Over the Knee Boots

My personal favorite winter trend, over the knee Boots, can quickly add personality (and hotness!) to any outfit. Great for elongating your legs and adding an edge to skinny jeans and dresses, this style is always an attention grabber. However, thigh-high boots walk a fine line between stylish and stripper, which is why you have to buy the right boots for your body type.

Stacey London, host of “What Not to Wear,” has said anyone under 5’ 4’’ has to be incredibly careful when it comes to this trend. She cautions that for shorter ladies, over the knee boots that hit mid-thigh shorten the entire body. For shorter body types, she suggests wearing over the knee boots with mini dresses to emphasize the length of the leg.  Another suggestion for some added height is to buy over the knee boots with a stiletto heel and pair them with tights and a dress or jeans—just be careful that the boots aren’t too high and the dress is not too short!

 

For taller girls, over the knee boots are one of the most flattering items out there but you still have to be sure to pair them with clothes that look chic and not cheap. For example, pairing over the knee leather boots with a longer dress and sweater looks sexy without being too suggestive. You can also pair thigh-high boots with skinny jeans and a simple top for an effortless going-out look.
