No.1 Think Spring!: 5 Spring Runway Trends to Beat Your Winter Blues - Women Compus - Women Campus
The initial excitement we had for winter is gone and it seems like spring can’t come any sooner. It’s the same old story: by this point our new boots are getting wet and muddy from the piles of snow outside and we are sick of wearing tights with all of our evening outfits. To get us through these tough winter days, let’s take a sneak peek at the Spring 2011 trends from New York Fashion Week.
Bold Colors
(Marc By Marc Jacobs dress)
Spring is the time to bring the color back into our lives. Marc By Marc Jacobs, Charlotte Ronson, and Sass & Bide have implemented bright colors like orange, pink, and teal into their collections. If you think these colors are too much for one outfit, try wearing an orange shirt with a neutral pant or a pink skirt with a plain white tee to tone it down.
Mix and Match Print
There was nothing matchy-match about the Spring 2011 runway shows. Brands like Proenza Schouler, Zac Posen, and Chanel were all about mixing patterns and making them work. Although this trend might be a little bit daunting, don’t be intimidated. To imitate the Proenza Schouler outfit choose a patterned skirt like this Forever 21 skirt and focus on bringing out one of the colors, pairing the skirt with a lace top like the American Apparel one pictured below. Wear a bandeau bra of the other color implemented in the skirt to bring the outfit together.
